Yesterday, he picked up some water balloons at the store and we were preparing for some serious backyard water balloon wars and tons of mess. We didn't factor in our Sweet Ava and her amazing imagination.
When Scott and Ava were filling them up, he made the off handed comment that they looked like "little eggs". We tried to break a couple and it didn't set well with Ava, since eggs mean babies and we would be breaking the babies, etc.
So....meet our new water balloon family:
They live in the water table above during the day, and at night we wrap them up and put them in bowls and they nest under the tarp on the playset (I am not exaggerating this at ALL).
Each "egg" has a unique face and emotion. Some are happy, some sad, some look like crazy voodoo dolls.
One balloon burst last night and when we went to transfer the eggs from bowl to water table today, we found the ruptured balloon and the water remnants in the bowl. Thinking that Ava was totally going to lose her crap, I started preparing the circle of life speech in my head. She surprised me again with "YAY Mama, the baby was born! The egg cracked". Whew.
More updates on our balloon family to follow I am sure.
